Ahmedabad: The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), one of the top B-schools of the country, needs to focus on improved research, interaction with multiple stakeholders and consider expansion both in terms of geography and student intake, indicated an experts’ committee in a report.
The ‘Review of IIMA,’ submitted by the Independent Expert Group (IEG) in May this year, was recently made public by the B-school on its website.
The committee included Kiran Karnik, former president of NASSCOM; Nagapurnanand Prabhala, professor at Johns Hopkins University; Janat Shah, professor at IIM Udaipur; and Ram Singh, professor at Delhi School of Economics. Karnik, an IIM-A alumnus, served as the chairperson. The group was formed by the Board of Governance at IIMA in September 2022 to review all major aspects of the B-school and recommend changes.
The document, made after talks and reviews with all stakeholders, mentioned that the yardstick for the B-school is not just Indian institutes, but also global B-schools. The experts noted that the gap between IIMA and other top institutes such as ISB and IIM-B is shrinking.
